Rushbrooke
Communications is based on over ten years experience
in public affairs, politics, and strategic communications.
Prior
to establishing the company, Mike Witherly advised federal
cabinet ministers; led the British Columbia office of
the Liberal Party of Canada as Chief-of-Staff; and appeared
in print, radio and television as a spokesperson and
political commentator.
Most
recently, Mike served as the Prime Minister's senior
political advisor for British Columbia.
Through
his work in government and being raised in an area rich
in First Nations' culture and history, Mike has a deep
understanding of Aboriginal issues. He strives to improve
consultation mechanisms so as to bring Aboriginal peoples,
government, and business closer together.
A
veteran of many political campaigns, Mike was the BC
Director of Communications for the Liberal Party of
Canada during their two most successful campaigns since
1968.
Mike
has provided communications and political advice to
the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, Minister of Environment,
Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Status of Women),
and the Leader of the Government in the Senate.
Born
in Prince Rupert, Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Political Science from the University of British
Columbia.
